For quite a while now I've only really used my DS as an alarm clock. I was in GAME the other day and saw Warioware Touched, which I've wanted for years on the DS but didn't actually buy it, because I thought there's no point as I don't really use the DS anymore. And that's pretty much what made me think of this topic. Are you still Nintendo fans? Do you still follow Nintendo? And what are the main systems you currently play? Personally I've pretty much lost contact with everything Nintendo is doing except for these forums and the HS. I don't read the newsletters that Cieran sends out, and I only really play my PC now, except recently where I've been playing Metroid Prime. Another point I want to raise in this topic was mentioned on the Aria Forums: that PC gaming is dying out. Do you agree? Personally, I don't, but i think that's because I'm pretty much a fully converted PC gamer now and would always rather buy the PC version of a game than the console version, and I have no intention of buying any present or future consoles. When the future consoles arrive, I think they'd have to be pretty spectacular to convert me. The 360 is tempting purely so I can join a few of my friends online and play a few exclusive games, but that's it, which is why I haven't gone out and bought one. It doesn't really warrant the cost. Also I have no money anyway at the moment. So, do you still follow Nintendo news? What consoles, either home or handheld, do you still actually play often, including PC? Do you still occasionally play other consoles when you fancy a bit of nostalgia? Do you think PC gaming is dying out? Would you convert to any other format/console? |

PC gaming dying out? Pfff. Given that great games like Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age: Origins PC versions are superior due to the potential for mods, I can't see that happening. I've probably spent at least as much time playing mods on Oblivion as the quests already in game, and in many cases they're just as good or better (Windfall, AFK_Weye, etc.). As you may have guessed from this, I mostly play PC games. However I also regularly play DS and Wii games, too, and I would still consider myself a Nintendo fan. There are a few things on other consoles, but nothing regularly. |

Here Here! Another good mod is the Elder Council mod by Dragon captions who have a ton of great mods, such as remaking the city of Sutch which was cut from the game due to time constraints. Anything Dragon captions is good. Although i prefer to use the Kvatch rebuilt mod as opposed to their Pride of wolfs gate, i combine the Kvatch rebuilt mod with the Kvatch watch towers. It makes for very good playing. Also the Dwemer Skyship is a good mod, if you want some cool Dwemer relics and a giant airship at your beck and call. I could go on with good mods. One additonal is Elsweyr Deserts of Anequina which adds the entire country of Elsweyr to the game, it is possibly the best mod i have ever seen. Anyway, i am a PC, 360 and DS gamer. I keep my 360 about for RPG games like Fallout, Oblivion and such and a ton of Xbox exclusive games, although i get 2 copies of most bethesda games now, one pc one 360, hence heavily modded Fallout 3 and Oblivion. The only thing i use my DS for now is when a new pokemon game comes out (yet to get soul silver) or for Fire Emblem (Getting Shadow Dragon soon). |

I just play Minecraft and Pokémons these days. I'm so casual :p . Sometimes I'll play Gmod, or if I'm at Fragsoc I'll play TF2/CSS or whatever. So yeah, mostly PC. Haven't played a Wii game in months... |

I play a hella lot of PC games since it has such a huge library of games. I'll play a Gamecube game on the Wii occasionally, or play some ROMs here and there. |

I still buy the occassional DS game. I am still interested with my Wii - the recent Sin and Punishment 2 is amazing, and there are plenty of good games coming: from Nintendo, Metroid Other M looks very good, Donkey Kong Country Returns (love 2D sidescrolling) and Zelda Skyward Sword also look excellent (though admittedly the Zelda will surely be as formulaic as ever). Third party doesn't look as good but there's still some interesting looking games, such as Lost in Shadow, that I intend to buy. I was never much of a Nintendo console gamer - I had only the prepackaged Mario collection on the SNES, and skipped the Gamecube (though I have bought some of its games to use on Wii), so the Wii is probably the Nintendo console I've been most interested in. I don't have the other current gen consoles - I'm sure there are some games that would interest me (I really want the various Cave shoot 'em ups), but I just manage without. At any rate, I can still obtain the soundtracks, which interest me a great deal. The only game that has made me actually want another console is the upcoming Castlevania Lords of Shadow because I have nearly all of the rest of the series, but again I'll probably not be too bothered skipping it, and can get the soundtrack. I play the occassional PC game. Well, mostly just Touhou games and Starcraft. Mostly though, PC gaming is probably more effort, when you have to consider the parts and compatibility, and upgrading every now and again - at least with a console you're guaranteed to be able to play every game release straight out of the box at the proper quality. And of course I still love the old Sega Mega Drive. So many great classics I need to emulate for uni (since my console broke...) |

See, IMO PC gaming is LESS effort, once you've got everything down. I can do everything without leaving my seat. Buy Steam game, download game, play game. And there's the convenience that at any time I can simply alt-tab out. And my laptop screen is bigger and better than my TV (18.5" 1080p HD vs 12" SD). It's just easier... |

I still consider myself a Nintendo gamer at heart even though I've branched out and play many different consoles now Nintendo is still the only thing to give me that warm tingling feeling which is seen in how my Gamecube (best console EVER!) and Wii collection dwarfs everything else and I've replayed games like Tales of Symphonia and Skies of Arcadia Legends many times over. In fact I rebought Paper Mario 2 again this week when I stumbles upon the amazing GC offerungs in teh Ipswich branch of CEX for Ł18 ^_^ Quite a lot but it is an amazing game. Also this week I've put in about 44 hours into Pokémon Heart Gold which I only got last froday as something to entertain me for the holidays and I still return to Fire Emblem, Zelda and other Pokémon games so my handhelds are still very much loved :x Don't play Wii games too much at the moment but with the awesome releases coming out that will soon change ^_^ I also have a Xbox360 which I don't play very much at the moment despite beiing totally absorbed in awesome games like Fallout 3 and Batman Arkham Asylum, my PS2 hasn't been played in a few weeks and my Dreamcast in still fairly new so haven't clocked many hours on it yet but I have been enjoying Shenmue immensely :) I also have a N64 which a mate gave to me recently (I have very good mates :) )and I tend to play that in short bursts rather than prolonged sessions but still switched on occassionaly.
