...I wanna have words with your dealer Shifts

Nintendo are dropping the RRP of the 3DS to £155 effective August 11th, just to wind up all those that paid £230 for their's, apparently.
However, to sweeten the blow, anyone who visits the 'eShop' gets a ton of free downloads, Sony style.

Xbox Arcade Games; For all the bits and pieces, and even the tinier bits and pieces of Game Room

So I'm becoming more and more fascinated with the Arcade games on the 360. I've always been a big lover of worms and so I loved seeing Worms 1&2 remakes on the arcade (be prepared for the disappointment that the jetpack is in both of them), but recently I've discovered a fantastic little game called N+.

I will try to make this more of a topic and less of an advert (but you all should give it a shot :p ), but briefly, in N+, you are a ninja. Awesome. You only have 2 buttons to remember. Awesome. One of these buttons is the suicide button. Awesome. The story is "Ninjas have an insatiable love for gold, and ninjas love rooms filled with ninja-killing things". Awesome. And yet it could be the greatest game I've ever played that isn't Morrowind. It has a trial version if ya wanna give it a whack before you buy (800 microsoft points, this includes xbox live playability, local multiplayer, co-op missions, and the main single player is 50 'episodes' of 5 levels each of increasing difficulty, and when/if you beat those 50 you get N+ expert missions). I won't claim to be a games master, but I know people with 4 figures in gamerscore who have not completed 15 episodes yet. The end of episode 15, 'Master Control', sets a standard for the hardest 'easy' level ever in my books. This is with unlimited lives, too. I'm about episode 22-ish, and it's not uncommon for an episode made up of 5 levels to take me half an hour. Considering you start with a 90 second time limit, that's amazing. I got the game on the 11th and had the achievement for 1,000 deaths by about lunchtime of the 12th.

But, here's my point Clearly, N+ has had a huge effect on me. I may actually rank it higher than any of the full games I own for the 360. I'm trying to figure out why more people aren't playing more arcade games. Retro gamers are going to appreciate things like the original Sonic the Hedgehog or Metal Slug <insert letter/number combination>. Although really, Game Room has the best retro games. Game Room offers a quite extensive range of simple, old arcade games (the original frogger, super breakout etc) for 400 MPS each. I'm looking forward to giving the Magic: the Gathering Arcade game a shot.

Considering the arcade games (depending on circumstances) are normally cheaper than full games, I'm wondering why more people aren't playing them? Is there some economical reason I'm missing, or is it just unawareness?

Also, use this thread to feed my arcade game addiction please ^_^

N+ is great. I'm pretty sure it was an internet game at first, just N... Its on DS too, and its great fun. :)

Although, Co-Op N+? That sounds like great fun. :D

it was originally N. Thou art very astute.

But yes, co-op N+. 2-4 people, although with 2 it's even harder than normal. What tends to happen is one person on their own has to activate all the switches to open all the doors for the other 3 to navigate very hard obstacles to get to the end. Fantastically frustrating if one half does a mission perfectly (e.g someone gets to the final door) but the guy who's meant to activate the switch is dead and you have to suicide.

I'm going to buy some points along with the new xbox today, so if you recommend some arcade games i'll download them. I've had 'The Impossible Avatar Getaway' and 'The Impossible Game', both amazingly addictive with great music.

Game Room+its trial games and Family Game Night+its trial games as they're all free. If you like something, buy it from there.

N+, I obviously recommend. Castle Crashers is said to be good by everyone who's played it except for me, so that's worth trialling at least. I am far from an arcade buff, I've only just started buying them.

Aha, as a progress report, I'm starting to need several tries per level, and I'm only at episode 24/50, I believe. It's fantastically addictive.

In other news, Yugioh will finally be arriving in xbox live arcade if anyone other than me is interested, somewhen this summer.
