Thank you Dan. I did not get the grade i needed to do A level German however i can discuss with the heads of the languages department about still doing it. It is not essential as i wish to mainly get my Psychology and Biology A levels, then do Psychology then Clinical Psychology in University. My Phd will be in Clinical Psychology, hopefully ^^.
Do you have any idea where you want to apply yet, since you're so sure on your desired path? Realistically people will be applying with similar and better GCSEs so you probably want to blitz the AS levels (not least because the first year is easier), and stack up the extracurriculars and maybe work experience.

And congrats Blaze, I'm impressed by the additional maths B (though surprised that if you're that good you didn't manage A* in GCSE maths).
My desired Uni is Lancaster University, close to home so i won't have to get a dorm. I intend to participate in any extra-curricular that interests me personally, either get a paying part time job or if thats not possible, work as a volunteer at the local RNLI shop. I am going to work very hard at my AS levels because this is what i have wanted to do for a very long time. Don't worry Dan, i am going to try and not let anyone down. :D

Ah I see. AAB is a tall order, good luck. Relevant work experience is better, but to be honest I can't think of anything psychology-related you could do, since the work of psychologists tends to be confidential... Well that would make it more impressive on your personal statement if you got some. :p

I'm sure you'll do well, and the only expectations you have to live up to are your own. :)

I didn't think I'd get a B to be honest. I'm very lucky I did! XD I'm not overly bothered I didn't get an A* in GCSE maths, but as you say, it does surprise me. XD

EDIT: Thank you as well. ^_^

Sadly Dan am not very clued in on such stuff, so just for confirmation from you. An AAB is 2 A grades and a B grade in my A levels at least to do that subject? If so then its not impossible for me, i will work for it! :feenasly:

That's right, Lancaster's website says 2 A grades and a B in your A-levels to get onto their psychology course. Obviously different universities vary (Bath wants A*AA, even Oxford doesn't currently give offers with A*s). The important thing is to do well enough in the first year that the predicted grades your teachers give to the 5 universities you apply to meet this requirement at least. Coupled with a glowing tutor reference and a killer personal statement that shows passion for the subject, that would make a strong application. You won't need to really worry about that for another year though. :p Plus if teh number of applications keeps increasing, and grades keep inflating, they might even bump the requirement up by the time you apply.

Check out other universities though - the course named "Psychology" could have drastically different content and flexibility at different universities, and you might prefer the look of some other course.

Indeed, i haven't really though about other Uni's to be honest. I will have to get thinking about them soon though i guess. Just thinking about all this gets me all worried and anxious. It's all very frightening!

If you are refering to Lancashire vs Yorkshire then i have always been your enemy. I live in Lancashire, i was born in Lancashire and if the chavs on my street corner are to believed, i will die in Lancashire.

To Dan: I have checked out a few other Uni's. Manchester Metropolitan University is one of my choices and its Psychology course has lower entrance requirements, however the Lancaster Uni course appeals to me more. Although Manchester Met will be a good fall back if i don't quite make the the grade for Lancaster Uni. I will check out a lot of other Uni's throughout Year 12.

Ahh, don't remind me. It's scary; I'll have applied for uni in 6 weeks time. Don't know where I want to go yet though. Southampton is the only place I know is definitely one of my choices and that's just a fallback because it's close to home.

Hard to believe it's not even been a year since I applied. What subject are you going for? I gathered 4 of my choices within about a week because the Oxford deadline is in October and I'd left thinking about it pretty late. I never actually visited them though, aside from Oxford, so it's pretty lucky I got in... Still, not smart.

Ah, surprised with my results for the first science units:

Biology: A (87/100) :(
Chemistry: A* (95/100) :)
Physics: A* (98/100) :)

I think I'll be going for Civil Engineering. I'll need pretty much As across the board, which I think I'll probably get.

Inphoar, sorry, but if you're unhappy with an A then you're a dick.

Not unhappy with it, but I have a very, very, very mild case of OCD about grades and numbers... and objects being in their place. It's probably better described as anal retentiveness rather than an actual disorder.

I have a bit of an problem with Odd numbers, especially in games. I will purposely waste bullets, ammo etc etc to get an even number. however it only bothers me if its an odd number over 20. :^0 So i can understand about having a preference with numbers.

Do not try and eat the cake, only try and realise the truth.
Ho hum.

Anyway, congrats to everyone. On the note of Josh & Inphoar, a reminder to both of you: it isn't about what you actually get, but what you are personally satisfied with. I never gave a damn what grades I got, provided I was able to advance to the next step (thankfully, I did). I'm not some kinda genius like Dan, and nor was I ever going to get into Oxford. That's cool with me, let me explain something to everyone.

I know one fellow who got straight A*s in his A-levels, (he has six now) got his further maths A-level at 15, blah blah. Cool, right? He even got an unconditional offer for Cambridge, he could've bunked the year off. But social skills? No, not really. He lives a life of emotional sheltering, with overprotective parents not allowing him to really see the world.
Another fellow who did very well was led into a life of drinking & drugs by his friends out of an insecure desire to fit in. He knew it was stupid, but now he's too far gone.
Others include an emotionally dead fellow and psychopaths and b*****ds.

I wouldn't attribute these things to Dan - I have no business doing so. He is who he is, and I don't know him in reality. Others who I don't mention who are off to Oxbridge (grammar school kid, I know 10 in my year), are perfectly fine people.

Be happy with what you get, who you are and the path you draw for yourself. Human charm and charisma can do a lot for a man. Tony Blair was a class clown and generally a bit of a "lad", and he didn't do too badly. (True, he's a dick, but a damn good populist).

PS: I love hash brownies. Mmm.

Well down Joshy, Blaze and Inphoar for those great results ^_^ Seems this place had a little action whilst I was gone :p But I mean it well done to all of you and best of luck in AS (even if you don't believe in luck) :)

Also with all this talk of universities it reminds me I will be applying soon :| I'm thinking of going West like Bristol or Cardiff and perhaps Glamorgan if no one else takes me :p Though i have had invites form Leeds and I think it may be Nottingham to their open days so they may be options.
