Just a place to talk about sitcoms :) Most people have a favourite and there are many so a topic to discuss them in should be good, partiuclarly as 'That Mitchell and Webb Thread' has disssolved into a mini topic about Spaced :p Anyone been watching IT Crowd :) I thought last nights episode was great with Moss' elite Countdown skills XD "Tnetennba" should be added to the English dictionary :) |

I have been watching the IT crowd and it is great as ever ^^. However i prefer the first series with Richmond and Denolm..."Nice Screensaver! I love the way the smoke seems to be rising over the top of it!" and of course "0118 999 881 999 119 725...3" |

Yay sitcoms :D I tend to prefer the modern sitcoms to the broad appeal My Family style ones or older ones, although I am partial to some classics like Only Fools And Horses and new studio audience shows like Black Books and it Crowd. But these are my very favorites: The Office (UK)- Flight of the Conchords - The Thick of It - (not very good clips on youtube, just whole parts of episodes) Green Wing - Summer Heights High - I added the clips just in case you haven't watched any of the above. Sorry if it's against the rules to post videos but I just noticed its possible :P I did check though and didnt see anything. |

I came here to do two things: drink some milk, and kick some ass. And I've just finished my milk. Classic :P Last weeks episode was better though. |

I find that your presence here Tipup is "overnumerousnesss" ;) In a a nice way of ocurse :D I think I actually prefered this weeks episode to last weeks, the only problem being that Channel 4 had been showing clips for the best bits over the week which muted the impact of the jokes slightly. Have to say though you have some great tastes Tiptup :D I love Peep Show and The Thick of It. Everything Malcolm says is pure comic genius XD |

Agreed TS ^_^ IT Crowd is awesome at creating those awkward situations and then making them even more awkward. It shows exactly why we nerds should never leave our basements :p |

Hm, I dunno, I didn't like that thread of the plot much. The window cleaning thing felt too forced, well in my opinion anyway; I don't think the characters are strong enough in the IT crowd to get across actual awkwardness. Its not like David Brent in The Office where I have to physically look away from the screen for all the awkwardness. It doesn't matter though, whats nice about the IT Crowd is that its not trying to be anything special, it's just a massive slice of fun pie. Its just for me I prefer sitcoms where the characters aren't just vessels for the situations, but instead the situations make the characters. If that made any sense, which it probably didn't :p |

OBJECTION! :p I'd disagree there as I feel that Moss and Roy do a hilarious job of conveying that social awkwardness of nerds who don't know how to react to others around them either at work or in public. Roy and the window cleaner business may have felt a bit forced but I kind athink it was supposed to be. It's not so much the audience feeling awkward more the characters and there are times where I can relate to that. |

Naaaaah.. I don't think any humour in IT crowd really comes from a feeling of awkwardness, its more a feeling of ridiculousness. That's why the Countdown thread was far better than the window cleaning thread. It felt too much like they didn't know what to do with Roy this week so they put together a pretty cliched 'social ladder' type story. That's what i felt from it anyway. Seemed a bit weak :( The street countdown reminded me a lot of that Spaced episode with Robot Club :P I was worried for a minute they were going to pull the exact same Fight Club gag but luckily they didn't. So it remained awesome. |

Well lets agree to diagree then :p (another cliché for ya :) ) Yeah I felt the exact same thing about the street countdown :D "The first rule about robot club is that you do not talk about robot club. The second rule of robot club is you do not talk about robot club... hang on... It's no smoking." XD Edited by picollo no., Jul 4 2010, 11:13 AM.

Haha when they clash the antenna of their remote controls like swords :p "We were damaged-" "WE WERE BETTER!" *clash* Best episode of Spaced is the second last one, with the type writer cake and the food fight. It's just perfect. |

Greenwing was amazingly funny while it lasted, was pretty short lived though wasn't it? =[ Also, Inbetweeners. |

Really all the best comedies are short lived. Faulty towers, The Office, Spaced, and Green Wing were all only two series each (although Office and Green Wing each had a single special after to finish them) Inbetweeners, I dunno about. Jay is a great character but the rest are kinda crap. Apart from him there's an idiot, a nerd, and a tintin lookalike with no personality who repeats 'Carlie!?' again and again. It does have some great moments though, this being the best. I'd say its like Peep Show, but not quite as good. |

Pahah oh sh!t yeah, I fell prey to da world play :P But yeah Fawlty Towers was great :) I don't usually like classic comedies though, like we watched an episode of Yes, Minister in history last week and it was really crap. A few people in the class who really belong in public schools kept laughing, but it must have been more than they wanted to laugh than they actually were actually finding it funny. It just hides its reliance on not-even-good slapstick jokes behind an intellectual premise. I guess they had a different sense of humour back then. Allo, Allo was pretty good though (til it took a downturn) ^_^ The way they handled accents was brilliant. |
