That's because poetry is queer. :]

Nintendo have had their E3 conference. The 3DS was shown, footage of the new Zelda (Skyward Sword) was shown, Kid Icarus was announced for the 3DS, and a bunch of other stuff happened

What do you do during a powercut?

Have I posted this on here before? Not sure. Can't remember.

Anyway, just curious. The lights keep dimming but we haven't actually lost power. I think the naughty weather has passed now anyway.

If it's raining outside I'll just play my DS, or wander around with my torch trying to think of something to do, then I'll fill up a saucepan with water, stick it on the gas hob and make a cuppa.

If the weather is nice outside, I tend to go for a drive, perhaps see some mates, or just drive around.

You?

Munchlax gonna get ya D:
I tend to rock backwards and forwards in a corner.

But TBH, it always seems to be dark when the power cuts, so I just try to read something by the firelight or with a candle.

I play the piano, or saxophone, or sing. As I do much of the time anyway. Or if I prefer I may read a book.

Psst, you just lost the game.

I normally find my DS/PSP and play on that. Or I could listen to music on my phone.

If its like, the middle of the day I'd probably go out to meet people.

"Are YOU my Master..?"

I guess I'd sleep if it's dark (it'll probably be better by the morning), read if it's not. DS/PSP (if the batteries are charged) if I get bored of one of the previous two.
Last time we had a power cut was probably two houses ago, so I might have done something different back then.

We used to get them all the time back at home. So much as a hint of a storm and we'd lose power for three days =/. These days though it just never happens for more than a second. Of course, it never happens at uni as we have loads of backup generators and stuff. I don't really know what I'd do though, the last time we had a proper one was before I was computer-obsessed. Maybe play on my DS, or possibly Warcraft III on my netbook...

Well whenever we've had power cuts I've always been asleep so I guess that's what I'd do in a power cut. But apparently they never last longer than a few minutes.

I'd wait in the darkness for the criminal who stole my power who thinks he's got the guys to challenge me...

Or just go on Facebook on my phone.

Who said a powercut has to occur during the night or when it's dark?

What a coinkidink. There was a power cut yesterday.

At about 7pm last night dad was on the computer (yeah yeah, I know...) trying to buy his lottery tickets (£10 per game, twice a week). Something went wrong, so he scribbled his numbers down on a bit of paper and sent me out to the Londis in the village to get his tickets the old fashioned way. Took effing ages to mark those slips.

Anyway, all done, and i begin the 10-minute walk back home. I notice numerous burglar alarms going off and a lot more people out in the street. When I get home, my dinner is waiting for me, nice and hot (gas cooker, woo!), and that's when I found out the power was off. Our burglar alarm was one of those going off, but ours is extra loud because we have two noise boxes. The stupid thing is, the alarm remained powered to make all that racket, but the control panel wasn't powered so I couldn't disable it. I'm the only one who knows how to work it.

After about half an hour of my brother and my dad sitting in their exact same positions in front of the unpowered TV, I went out for a drive. Went to see a few mates, came back about 11:30pm. Still off, but one thing I picked up on because it had got dark, was the fact that the main road that runs behind my house wasn't lit. Normally the street remains lit even if the houses are off, and while coming up that road, I couldn't help noticing a congregation of EDF vans on the side of the road as I came up the hill.

So I got home and went up to my room. Naturally, it's pitch black so I start searching in the corner where I keep my torch. Brother walks past and accuses me of being creepy and just standing in the corner like a shadow. In actual fact I was feeling around the top of my cabinet looking for my torch.

Then I found it, went downstairs, filled up a saucepan with water on the gas hob, made a cuppa, then went to bed.

Was awoken at 5am this morning by our burglar alarm going off again, due to the fact that the power was restored at that time. Went downstairs, disabled it, went back to bed. After a relatively uncomfortable night (didn't sleep very well), I then proceeded into a deep sleep after disabling the alarm, and didn't wake up until about 11:30am. I still feel a bit like i@m in a trance though, not fully with it. I hope i get a good sleep tonight.

Honestly, I leave the house alone for half an hour with Kevin and dad and look what happens...

Sort of related, I just want to rant though about my college. Heating. The b*****ds have turned it off, and I'm trying to dry clothes. We pay £82 a week for our room, water, heating and Internet. So we're paying for heating, but they've turned it off. It's not even particularly warm out. Not cold, but not warm either. When it was really warm it was on, when it went back down to cold again it was off. f***ing hate this university...

You tend to get that in education establishments. Heating on during the summer, off in the winter. But if you're paying for it, then surely it's up to you whether its on in your accommodation or not?

Apparently not. I've asked for it to be turned on and they just said no...
