Well a Dr Who discussion topic here. Discuss it episode by episode, your opinions on previous Dr Who Episodes etc etc. :p Hopefully this topic will help revitalise other areas of the forum. I haven't started watching Dr Who yet (will do in a few minutes though) but from what i can tell from what people have said it is very good. :D |

I didn't think much of the last episode 'Victory of the Daleks'. There wasn't really much to the story apart from the rebirth of the Daleks (again :p ) and the setting of London during the blitz just seemed to be used as a set piece. It really could have been set in any period of history. Matt Smith was pretty good though and is developing into a pretty good Doctor though I find he still has many of DT's mannerism's. Hopefully with Moffat writing the next episode it should be much better. |

I know what you mean, Picollo. It was just some way for the daleks to revive and very little more. Churchill was a mostly pointless character, I think. He was just there because he was Churchill. Seems to be a return of the angel statues next time. Hopefully it'll be good. It was good the first time they appeared. |

I'm hoping he hasn't let the critical acclaim go to his head though. This could either be really good or really average IMO... |

Interestingly enough there was very little 'Doctor' in that 'Doctor Who' episode :p which was interesting at the time. But here's hoping it is a lot better. Also the use of Chruchill was probably used because the writers often feel a need to give some kind of patriotic British send up and Who ( :D ) better than a poor likeness for the "greatest Briton who ever lived" and a WWII setting :p Felt the 'Empty Child' was a much better example of a WWII setting as the scenario of the Blitz actually had some impact i.e. that little kid dying, not too mention I'm one of the few who actually found that episode creepier than the Weeping Angels. Anyway now for a sweeping fanboy statement: Torchwood > Dr Who :) |

I haven't seen much Torchwood myself, but what I have seen is good. I wouldn't say what I've seen was better though. I like that it seems more adult. Makes for a nice difference. But it's still merely a spin off, and will never get as much focus and attention as Doctor Who anyway. |

Maybe the first series that would be the case, but with parts of series 2 and particularly the 5 part Children of the Earth series I'd beg to differ with you :) And the fact that it is doesn't get as much attention as Doctor Who just favours its cult appeal :D Anyways what did everyone think of todays episode. For the life of me I couldn't remember what the Weeping Angels do. |

I liked today's episode a lot. The Angels are great enemies. I also like the idea that the Doctor keeps meeting River Song in the wrong order. To make her work though, they'll have to keep her reappearing long into the future. Considering that the Doctor doesn't get as close to, say, Rose after 2 whole series' worth of time together, to make the closeness between the Doctor and Song believable she'll have to be as recurring as the Daleks. I'd guess though that the producer after Moffat would probably not use her much - in that case I'd hope Moffat keeps his post for as long as RTD did. |

I wish it hadn't been a two-parter. It just suddenly ended and that was annoying. I had no idea it was before hand. |

Anyone else find that cartoon of Graham Norton at the climax particularly annoying ?:/ I mean it's not like they could have waited for the credits or anything is it <_< |

I found it annoying yeah, but I'm not one of the 5000+ people that complained to the BBC about it. XD |

See, that would be perfect but wrong. As I wouldn't be stealing your precious, you'd still be QOTD holder, so the statement therein would be useless :p... |

No one's updated since the last episode :0 I must fix this :D So what did everyone think? I thought it was a thrilling climax to last weeks episode and the whole crack in space and time storyline is heating up and there appears to be further mystery behind River Song. Did she kill the Doctor? Possible as they keep meeting in the wrong time periods, but I think that may be too obvious a conclusion to draw (but then again if laziness sets in that could well be the case) Just thought the ending had a slight whif of Series 2's fianle :| |
