*Sigh* You all asked for this. Photoshop doesn't seem to want to merge them, so you get two pictures, to encompass them all :). Posted ImagePosted Image Nice isn't it :D. I know it said computers you CURRENTLY use (or was implied anyway) but whatever. Have some specs. They're aranged best to worst, left to right. I'll go right to left though ;). (2002-2006) Furthest right is a Toshiba Satellite...something. My first laptop, a hand-me-down from my dad for Christmas in 2002, this 1999 laptop has been around the world several times and runs Windows 98SE :D. It still runs absolutely fine too. Toshiba Satellites=Highly recommended. We have four :). This one, my brother's laptop, my mum's laptop and my mum's work laptop (DON'T JUDGE US WE HAVE A LOT OF LAPTOPS). It's pretty high-end too, for 1999. Here are the specs, roughly, I'm unsure of the exact ones. 5GB HDD 192MB RAM 800MHz processor 32MB VRAM (I think) 800x600 screen. Internal modem (broken, by us, not a fault :p ). Nipple mouse. CD Drive So yeah, pretty awesome laptop. I was using this one right up to 2006! (2008-2009) Next up, a 2008 eeePC 701, one of the first netbooks :D (woo early adoption). This was bought when the second laptop's hinge broke (more on that in a bit). Saw me through all of Y13 and some of Y12, runs a customised Xandros Linux distribution. It...suffices. It's not brilliant, but it's alright. Only slightly better than the previous one I covered :p. 4GB SSD (no moving parts) 900MHz processor (underclocked to 600MHz) 800x480 7" screen Some crappy graphics card, it's not gonna run Crysis ;). Hey, it's a netbook. So wireless is BRILLIANT on it, huge range and stuff. It's not been many places, the most exotic is Ireland :D. Its failing battery meant I needed a new one (the final computer, as you can see, is too big to take notes on effectively :p ) (2006-2009) Next to this, a 2006 Compaq Presario C300EA. A computer also used by ex-forum member super-sage! It was very nice for late 2006 (got it the weekend before the Wii came out). This is the computer NoE2 was started on ;). It's not a BAD laptop really, just low-end. So...everything broke. The hinge on it is snapped, in the top left, so it can't be closed without damaging it. This was caused by the processor overheating and weakening the top left corner of the keyboard. As well as this, the power cord going into it stopped working a few months ago and I had to get a new one >_<. Oh, and it runs Windows XP MCE (IMO best operating system I've ever used) Anyway, specs: 80GB HDD 1.6GHz Intel Celeron M processor 1GB RAM Intel GMA950 graphics card with 128MB of VRAM (TERRIBLE card) 15" 1280x800 screen DVD drive Wireless internet. Simply put, it was impractical for university use and had to be put aside. It was getting old, slow and broken. It now resides under my desk in a printer-hole. I still do use it occasionally when I remember something I need to retrieve off it's hard drive. Oh, this is also the computer I borked between September and November 2007 by trying to install Ubuntu and ending up wiping everything from it =/. Then had to pay £30 for recovery discs. I really dunno why I didn't just pirate, but whatever :p. Maybe I was more ethical back then. (Last week-present) MSI Wind U-90. Bought it last week, so it still has new computer smell :D. It's a very nice runner, speedy. For £180 it was a bargain too. Then I find out it only has a three-cell battery which lasts about an hour and a half >_<. Still, it has some decent specs on it. 120GB HDD 1GB RAM 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor Intel GSE945 Chipset. With a *sigh* Intel GMA950 graphics card :p. 10" 1024x600 screen. Wireless Internet. Naturally. Runs Windows XP. Don't really have much else to say about this computer, it doesn't exactly have any history associated with it :p. Only odd thing is that the HDD is for some reason split into two partitions of 40GBs and 80GBs. Finally, the BEST computer :D. An HP (despite my vow to never buy from them after the Presario) HDX 18. It's a pretty beefy laptop tbh. Got it cheap from America. Got a lot of problems though :p. Manageable ones, but still :p. It runs Vista Home Premium for one ;) . Also it has an American keyboard, with no ¬ key. So no ¬_¬ without having to switch to UK. But in UK I can't do :|. So I have to constantly switch between them. Still, specs time. 320GB HDD (too small IMO) Dual core Intel Centrino 2.6GHz processors 4GB RAM Nvidia 9600 GT graphics card, 512MB VRAM 1920x1080 18.5" screen (awesome screen :D ) Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN wireless card :(. Awful, awful card, wouldn't wish it on anyone. My brother has the same card and also has problems. It won't stay connected to the Internet for any length of time, I've reverted to Ethernet. Before you say anything, drivers are all updated and everything. Blu-Ray drive Also has other stuff. Inbuilt webcam (but what doesn't these days, the eee and Wind do too), fingerprint scanner, touchpad. So yeah. That's my computers. Though I only use the last two really... |

That's quite good for a laptop. But on those specs i would have expected a 320 or 500GB hard drive. That's just me though - I see 250GB as perhaps the smallest hard drive I'd go for at the moment if I was to buy a manufactured computer. Any smaller is a simple no-no. My rig hasn't changed much since the last topic. I don't know if I ever posted in it, but here are my specs anyway: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4 BIOS version: F9 Case: Thermaltake Tsunami Dream, with window, black, no PSU Graphics card: Powercolor HD 4870 512GB CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (2.8GHz) RAM: 2 x 2 GB OCZ Vista Platinum DDR2 DIMMs, 800MHz, 5-4-4-15 timings PSU: Corsair HX Series (modular) 640W Hard drives: - Samsung Spinpoint F1 640 GB dual-platter, SATA II, 7200 RPM, can't remember the cache size. I think it's 16 MB. - Seagate Barracuda 750 GB, SATA, 7200 RPM, 8 MB cache - Seagate Barracuda 160 GB, PATA, 7200 RPM, 2 MB cache - Maxtor DiamondMAX 8 120 GB, PATA, 7200 RPM, 2 MB cache Optical drives: - 20x LiteON DVD+/-RW with Lightscribe technology, beige with replacement faceplate which I can't be arsed to put on - 20x LiteON DVD+/-RW, black 2 x 120mm fans with rubber noise-suppressing screws, 1 x 90mm fan with rubber noise-suppressing screws 1 x floppy disk drive, not used anymore but still installed because if i took it out now there'd be a big hole where the drive currently is Altec Lansing VS3251 5.1 surround sound speakers Monitors: - ProView 17" 4:3 flat panel monitor, silver. - Asus VW202SR 20" 16:10 flat panel monitor, black Mouse: Belkin laser glow mouse, black and silver Keyboard: Octigen multimedia keyboard, black I want to upgrade my CPU to an AMD Phenom II 965, but have no money at the moment. |

I used to have a crappy advent laptop. For almost five years! I think it barely had 256mb of RAM, a 30gb hardrive, rubbish trackpad and crap cooling. So bad, IT BURNS! *picture coming soon* |

My old one LITERALLY burned :p. As in, gave me burns from getting too hot. Though actually this one does as well, if I leave it unaired on my bed for too long. Burned my hand on the bottom yesterday :p. Now I just prop it up on some socks to air the fan... |

So did mine, but worse! There is actually a black part on the case where it over-bloody-heated and actually pwnd itself. However, although the cooling system WAS crap (One really jewishly sized fan), this was actually my fault. Y'see, a paper clip got stuck in the rotor. I can't find the picture of the burn (It's on the bottom right), so here's an artist's representation! Posted Image |

Right so we will ignore that is powered by a coal furnace you have in your cellar and that requires the sacrifice of a goat to the Great God Ra to work? |

My house doesn't have a cellar, so it's actually powered by the national grid, and the sacrificing a goat is a standard part of my daily routine :smug: Now all I have to do is wait for BootCamp to support Windows 7 and I'm all set :) |
