Released two years after Ocarina of Time this sequel is often overlooked compared to it's very highly regarded prequel. A shame considering it boasts many imprvements and new features which makes it more than just another copy and paste sequel. Ths story is that one day when mugged by a rouge Skull Kid wearing a strange Mask, Link as he makes chase is lured into the strange world of Termina where the Skull Kid with some mysterious power turns Link into a simple Deku Scrub. After the incident Link teamed up with a new fairy partner Tael (significantly less annoting then Navi) makes his way to Clock Town where he meets the Happy Mask Salesman (he's so sinister it's hard not to believe he's the main villain), who tells you that you must retrieve Majora's Mask from a mischievous Skull Kid. He tells you of it's dangerous power and gives you have three days to retrieve it. Afterwards you enter the town and find out that the moon is about to fall in three days and you take it upon yourselfef to return back to normal and save the world of Termina. Compared to other Zelda games, MM is incredibly dark which is a huge change, Whats also a bit different is that staple characters such as Zelda and Ganondorf make no appearance in the game what so ever (apart from one flashback where Zelda teaches you the song of time). Now the story is out of the way I'll explain the game mechanics. The basic gameplay os still the same as OoT but you now have a 3 day time limit (roughly around 18 minutes in game time) to complete your objectie otherwise it's bye bye Termina but luckily once you get your trusty ocarina back you can travel back and alter time inorder to make it easier for yourself, along with other kinds of songs to help you along your way. There are only 4 main dungeons in this game and to some this may not seem like a lot at all but all the fun you'll have outside them will more than make up for it. The NPC's live by the time limit and will be doing different things at different times of the day which leads to some incredibly fun sidequests such as listening to a crazy musicians confessions or fending of a couple of milk rustlers as they try to attack a young farmer on her midnight mild delivery. Probably the most famous is the Kafei and Anjus sidequest that spans the entire 3 days. All the nice things you do for people are recorded in your Bomber Notebook which shows all your achievements. But trust me when I tell you that these are probably the best developed NPC's you'll ever see and find it hard not to feel involved with them. They are not simply carbon clones of each other he stick to one spot all day, they have theri own lives, which adds an entirely new layer to the game. You may get so caught up in all the individual dramas of the people that it may take a while before you actually have you're epic face of with the evil Majora's Mask which of course is the main aim of the game. The graphics of this game are a slight improvement upon OoT. Link's model is more detailed and environments are a bit better textured and you may notice that the whole game is in 3d compared to the pre-rendered backgorunds what was used in OoT for the Temple of Time or when he sometimes entered a house. Though it's not a signficant imprvement at all. The music of the game is excellent though form the Clock Town Theme which changes a bit each day from being all happy on the first day to sounding panicy and rushed on the last day which is a nice lttle detail. Koji Kondo again proves why he's one of the best in the business. This games is absolutely outstanding and is definately the best 3D zelda game in my opinion. 96% |

I agree with most of this. I did have much, much more fun outside the dungeons in this than I did in Ocarina and Twilight (which was absolutely awful outside). |

The problem is that Twilight Princess had an absolutley huge world but nothing much to do in it, it was a real waste, especially Castle Town. |
