Sextbook: By Order Of The Admin

The 90's were damn good years for the movie industry. Some of the all time greats are from the 90's which people are still discovering today. Then, there are others, such as American Pie. The odd thing about my first viewing was that it was on DVD around 2 years ago. A DVD which belongs to my father, who generally has a farily good taste in films and comedy. What have I got to lose? I though to myself. A little while later I found that the answer was 2 hours of my life. American Pie is probably the film which has sparked my hatred of teen movies. It has added a lot to it, at least. I'm against nudity in films, because I believe that it doesn't add anything. Hell, I wouldn't usually complain if it's there, after all, I like Sin City and Point Break. American Pie, like other "comedies" takes sex (and nudity) and uses it as a large part of the film. The problem is that it just isn't funny. American Pie makes no attempt to be a drama of any sorts, so it can't be considered a vital plot point, but instead a crude attempt at humour. It seems that the script of American Pie was created by compiling a 13 year old's favourite jokes and adding a sentence in between to try and make something resembling a plot. The problem that I have is that I can't tell which parts are the jokes. When the characters laugh, I don't, but it isn't often that they do laugh. Epic Movie did a better job than this as I could tell what was supposed to be funny, despite the fact that it wasn't. I couldn't possibly think about giving a film like this close to 50%. A film which is full of confusing jokes. A film which is full of pointless nudity. A film which took two hours from me and won't give them back. In the realms of things which are truly terrible, a score lower than Alien Vs. Predator could acheive: 9% I would appreciate other reviews, as they would help me understand what was supposed to be funny. |
