I don't know which idiot decided to go with this script, or which idiot wrote the script, but what's important is that whoever did it is an idiot. Anyway, in Indiana Jones: How to ruin a series Q.E.D it appears that the writers have taken advantage of people liking what is a genuinly good film and decided to throw in an 'explosive finale' to close off the series. Firstly, I don't see any reason for a sequel. There was still an air of mystery around each 3 films, which was a part of the reason people like them so much. All of this mystery was blown away within the first 1/2 of the film. The first problem is that this film doesn't like you. Don't worry, it doesn't like me either. Instead of giving you what you paid for, it decides you throw you into a film which has been playing for 30 minutes and gives a tiny recap of all the excitement you missed. In the first scenes you discover than Jones has been captured, but never see this happen. In fact, there's an awful lot in this film which is used just to pad out the run time. Conversations about how he's a war hero. They're completely pointless, as they add nothing to the plot, there's no humour and there's a general unimportance around the first half an hour. Anyway, we follow Jones and his captors to a Hangar. The very same Hangar that we see at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. This is the fantastic mysterious background of the films before it destroyed. We didn't know abything about it, it was a place full of fantastic secrets, which we'll never see. Apparently Lucas, being the idiot that he is, didn't like this and decided that having a gunfight and car chase in their would be a better idea. The film progresses to see Jones escape, and then, for the rest of the film, remain under the control of Spalko. There's no sense of adventure. Jones isn't exploring, he's running (until he gets bored of trying to escape half way through the film). The problem is that this film lacks any of the Indiana Jones adventure, and great jokes that people love. They've been replaced by modern crap because Lucas was allowed on set. The spark from the originals had died out, and the flame no longer burns. It's the end for Jones, and the end shows it. 39% |

I thought it was ok but those damn aliens just completely pissed me off X-( and ruined any enjoyment I may of gotten out of the film. |
