Title: The Kite Runner Genre: I couldn't really think of a suitable genre, action is certainly one, but that doesn't really cover it. *spoilers* Hassen and Amir are two Pakistanis inseparable from birth, anywhere you'd find one you'd find the other. The film starts with two kites flying, one Hassen's and Amir's and one's another couple's. It has a minute of the kite's flying before Hassen and Amir cut the other person's kite and Hassen runs it. One day Amir gets his allowance, him and Hassen go to the cinema and go around town buying toys and sweets and what-not. They go into a alley to get home and are confronted by a man called Assef and his gang. To get rid of them, Hassen takes out his slingshot and threatens him. They back off for the time being. After winning the biggest kite tournament in their town, Hassen runs the last kite, but is chased by a gang led by a man called Assef into a alley, in which he is beaten and raped. While Amir watches his best friend being beaten and raped, he doesn't intervene and runs off. then meets up with his friend afterwards and takes the kite. After Hassen and his father Ali quit being Amir's father's servants, the Russians invade. His father is in a powerful position, and he knew that they'd come for him, so they leave for America. There is a long time’s skipped afterwards, and goes straight to Amir's graduation. Then it goes to his wedding, then to his father's death, then to the release of his first book. He gets a call from his uncle inviting him home. He accepts, and goes back home. He meets up with his uncle, and he tells him of what has happened to Hassen since. He explains that he got married and had one child. But one day the Taliban had come along and killed Hassen, brought him out on the street and shot him in the back of the head, the child was brought to an orphanage. He also tells him, that his father had had sex with his servants wife, and she had given birth to a child, Hassen. So Amir sets out to find his nephew. The orphanage the boy was in had given the boy to the Taliban, but the orphanage owner tells him to go to ‘the stadium’. So he goes to the stadium. He sees a woman and a man getting stoned. He talks to the man afterwards who tells him to meet him at a prison-thingy-ma-jig. He goes to it, and the boy is brought in with a man. Amir has a conversation with the man, and figures out that it is Assef. Then Assef beats Amir. The boy fires a bead into Assef’s eye using a slingshot. Amir and the boy escape back to America. It ends with Amir running a kite for the boy. Graphics: I loved them because every time it showed up a new year on the screen they were better, which was a nice effect, I thought. Storyline: The storyline was very good and kept me watching constantly and really made me realise how bad the situation was in Pakistan. Music: I really can’t remember there being any music, if I’m wrong here correct me, but I remember the music at the start and finish being very effective. Though there being not much music didn’t take away from it. 95% I loved this film. |

A little tip for next time: Reviews often include a short explanation of the plot. :p You really don't need to follow Cieran's guide thing, especially the graphics part... I'll add this to the archives. More reviews are appreciated, at the end of next week I'll compile a movie and game top 10. I want to leave them open for a week, until it next Friday when I'll create another. Eventually we'll have a nice collection of them, and can see how big the changes in scores are, and what type of film is the "best". |

I'll do a few more, if you like, and I wanted to put in that stuff at the end, and I was giving away spoilers, and doing a short review... I can do the opposite next time if you like? |

Anything's fine, whatever you want to do. I just do the opposite to you, because I find typing up a few hundred words on what happens boring, I'd rather complain/praise it. If you like to explain the plot more, then do that. |

Ye, I was considering polling for a spoilers sub-board, because I know I prefer to keep away from the spoilers and watch thefilm, rather than know everything that's going to happen, especially in thrillers. |

Personally, I put them into the topic description, and at the top of the topic itself. If people read it then, it's their own fault. |
