...I wanna have words with your dealer Shifts

Nintendo are dropping the RRP of the 3DS to £155 effective August 11th, just to wind up all those that paid £230 for their's, apparently.
However, to sweeten the blow, anyone who visits the 'eShop' gets a ton of free downloads, Sony style.

I can't steal the thunder of first film review, or the first person to review this film, but I want to add my opinion, which I hope others will do to as it's very different.

From the trailer this film seems as though it's main feature are to effects, and you get basically what the trailer offers. The film offers lots of action, with a fair amount of story, for a kids film. The one word that came to mind all of the way through this film was "Apocalypto". Anyone that knows a bit about films will probably realise that this is the title of a fairly good, recent film directed by Mel Gibson. So much imagery in this film, and the general film were the same. It's almost as though this was trying to be the "kids" Apocalypto. Other scenes seem as though they were grabbed from other films (such as The Green Mile) for a bit of variety. The problem is that the scenes are so well known, it's hard to not recognise them. Of course, the scene I'm talking about is the scene where the elder "filters" the pain of the adventurer.

As I've already said, I feel that the trailer advertised the effects as new, and "state of the art". Unfortunately they've all been given a "toon" feel to them. They have also been made the focus, so the backgrounds are often dull and boring - making you believe that someone got bored. The animals are bad overall, but the scenes in them are too unrealistic, even with the "kiddy" feel of the film. An animal, especially close to death, would never join forces with a person who, in the space of 20 seconds "tames" it. Yet, in this film, it does. It then continues to stalk that person, until they're in trouble and need help. Image the bear from The Golden Compass but which, 5 minutes earlier, was a wild animal.

The costumes are terrible, they are modern crap, which has been torn, and a few dust paints are added to the actors.

The visual quality of this film is terrible. With such a budet, they should have been able to do a fantastic job. Unfortunately, the crew were lazy and/or didn't care much for their jobs. The script isn't the worst I've seen in the last 5 years, but it was pretty damn bad. It was lazy, and lifeless. The same goes for the acting and plot (lazy, and lifeless).

Overall: 38%
