Thread title: The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker
Sub-title: 8.9/10, the legend lives on!

Game Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker
Number of Players: 1 (gameboy advance compatible)
Price: £39.99 at release. A decent copy can be found for £20 now
Release: 2003
Console: Gamecube (gameboy advance compatible)

“An Evil Wind is blowing”
“Legend has it that whenever evil appeared a hero name link has arisen to defeat it.”
The legend repeats itself in the epic, the legend of Zelda the windwaker.

The legend of Zelda: The Windwaker starts you off like any normal Zelda Game. You are a simple boy living in a small village (in this case an island) who is sent out on a quest that ends up being a lot more then first expected. Link starts his quest after his sister Aryll is kidnapped and he wants to save her. He sets of to the sees in an amazing adventure filled with unimaginable monsters, immense dungeons and enchanted items such as the windwaker itself.
Link soon finds his journey will unfold into a whole lot more as he sets of to explore the vast seas.

The Gameplay is like any other classic Zelda. Simple yet enjoyable.
You are able to equip 3 of the magical items at one time, a sword and a shield. As with any other classic RPG you can upgrade your sword and shield but in this game its set to a set pathway.
The main story is relatively short and simple. But don’t let that put you off. If you take into account the side quests and exploration factors that many brush off when they complain about the length then this game is a whole lot more. The items are amazingly well thought with things like the windwaker which allow you to change the direction of the wind so you can sail the open seas freely.
Or the grappling hook which allows you to get too hard to reach places and unlock the dungeons secrets. This game has a lot more to it then it first seems. If you delve deep enough you’ll find the true joy which makes me and many others Zelda fan boys!

The Graphics are one thing that put most people off. They feel Nintendo’s image is too “kiddie” and that the cel-shaded graphics make it look like a child’s game. I personally think that the game itself is a work of art. The enemies are animated amazingly allowing you to feel you’re fighting more then just AI enemies. And the landscape is immense with an awe inspiring overworld that at first glimpse made my jaw drop open. One of the best things about this game is the characters. Each one seems like a real person. Each with their own personality. And you can talk, help and join forces with almost all of them! This is another feature that I love about Zelda games. They seem to keep you coming back for more every time, simply because you never feel that you don’t have something to do.

Alas this game has its weak points. It has some extremely annoying and time consuming sections that you must complete before moving on in the storyline. These can put many people off as they simply want to get on with the game rather then sailing round in circles in search of something. Another weak point is the fact that it is on cube. People see its graphics. And see its console and feel that it is a game for their 5 year old brother/sister to be playing. This is a common and incorrect misinterpretation!

Yet another thing similar with other Zelda games is the music. If I was to say it in one word it could be summed up in “beautiful” and even then I cant go into much detail about how simply amazing it is, and how inspiring it can be. I myself write most my fanfics whilst listening to Zelda music!

This game is packed with added bonuses! Be it the side quests, of which there are many. The huge puzzle filled map to explore or the extras that can be added with it. For example. If you managed to secure an early copy of the game it would come bundled with the all time classic ocarina of time. But this time a bonus version named the ocarina of time, master quest! This is for true Zelda fans. Not only that but this version is in a limited edition gold case!
Another feature is the tingle tuner. Now most people hate tingle. Who can blame them?
But in this game he adds another experience to it! With the tingle tuner your friend can either assist you with quests by taking out enemies. Or make it more complex for you by dropping traps. This allows for two players to play and switch between each other creating a never before made experience that is original to the Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker!

Score: 8.9/10
Additional comments: let don slightly by its childish (but impressive) image and sometimes tedious puzzles. However this game is a must buy for everyone!
One word summary: Epic!
Worth buying Yes!!!!
