This game could quite easily be an unsung hero, most people haven't played it, and those that have, played the great remake on the Gameboy Advance, or because of the recent virtual console release. It's a game of two halves, much like the recent Twilight princess, splitting the map into two halves, the light and dark worlds. The story goes that one night a young boy known as link has a dream/telepathic message from the princess who has been locked up in the castle by the evil wizard; Agahnim. Half way through the night he wakes up to find his dad plans on leaving him by himself as there is news of trouble at the castle. Before long you end up going against your first boss, finding the princess, and leading her back out the castle and into the safety of the sanctuary. The controls are simple and as usual Link has an impressive range of items to find and then use to his advantage. The game has great lastability as it houses 13 dungeons and bosses and all the usual heart pieces to collect if your a perfectionist. With great graphics for its time, catchy, memorable music, this is a great buy if you haven't played it before and still a great buy if you have. 96% from ONM Available now on the Virtual Console for 800 wii points (about a fiver) or on the GBA as part of a package with the awesome 4 swords.
