Title: Watchdog having a go at Brain Training

G_R7 - February 4, 2008 08:00 PM (GMT)
Turns out a lot of people can't get the Say The Colour on Screen, Not The Word game on Brain Training. To be honest the people that complained all had deep, Northern accents or speech impediments. Is this really Nintendo’s fault or should these people just speak clearly?

I’ve played it without a problem and my step mum with an Irish accents has never had a problem.

I reckon it's just people not speaking properly. Nintendo can't accommodate for all speech types, after all, so they have to go for the people who speak better as it's clearer and more common/possible. :p

Its y-y-yeye-yel-ll-ol-ow!!

Dino Dan the Dinosaur Man - February 4, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
It should be understood by all accents really, or at least provided with a warning ("not suitable for heavy-accented people"), but when it comes to voice recognition I imagine it's hard to programme the matches anyway, let alone on a DS. But still that's no excuse for an inferior product...

Llivio - February 4, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
yup all they need to do is speak clearly

Dark Lugia 2 - February 4, 2008 08:12 PM (GMT)
No, they speak clearly XD It wouldnt recognise me saying blue, everyone who I know who had the game was wlasys yelling blue or yellow into the game XD and we speak clear :p

It gives that warning but when people from Newcastle or Manchest try they still have problems.

Bailey Bob - February 4, 2008 08:23 PM (GMT)
I'm from manchester and i dont have problems ?:/

The Ross Man - February 4, 2008 09:27 PM (GMT)
I had no problems apart from with the word blue. I have a bit of a Dublin accent but I did my best to speak clearly.

Do Watchdog not have anything better to do? I don't like the games. But c'mon. Shouldn't they be teaming up with Jeremy Kyle on 'Help! Chinchillas ate my baby!' or 'Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Cowbell'?

Short answer: No. Long answer: When 10 people get pissed off with something they treat it like 10 BILLION people are pissed off about it in total and so have a moan.

Dark Lugia 2 - February 5, 2008 04:28 PM (GMT)
^It's way more than just ten XD i've seen on loads of forums where loads of peeps ask for hacks to get past the word blue or yellow XD it;s that bad :p i just said i was in a noisy place so the game didnt ask them, tbh..

picollo no. - February 5, 2008 06:47 PM (GMT)
I reckon it's their fault for speaking in deep regionalised accents :p .

Well you see it wouldn't understand a Welsh accent as you can see Nintendo are clearly racist :p . They pick on the Welsh as they find it funny like everyone else in the world apart from the Welsh and a little village in a valley of Patgonia :p . Though I don't really have a Welsh accent so doesn't affect me too much anyways.

Dark Lugia 2 - February 6, 2008 05:40 PM (GMT)
No they dont pick on the welsh, i'm sure they couldnt care less who's playing the game XD

Danny - February 6, 2008 05:41 PM (GMT)
Really they will be doing their best to program the game but it's not going to be full proof. I don't have problems with it.

Good luck staying in Manchester. I'm lucky, I managed to move away.

I've never played Brain Training (and don't plan to), so I wouldn't know what to say about this. Except that maybe they should say it in a more "posh" English way.
