I'd imagine that you'd have to connect to WiFi in some way to recieve the gift. Connecting to the GTS or battling someone might do it, but I'd imagine it's via mystery gift.
And D/P pwns :p Got about 340 hours racked up now.

Nope, I've just raised about 30 competitive pokes and played somewhere in the region of 70 wifi games, as well as spending ages in the battle tower. My Pokedex is somewhere in the region of 200 >.<
And I'm sure the other games are better, but Wifi makes it for me.

I'm just going to go the Mystery Gift and if that doens't work I'll go on WiFi. However, only my Pearl has MG unlocked right now and I got the Event Items hacked on it. I may have to dig out my Diamond and quickly do a few things to get the MG.

Strangely, I completely agree...
On paper, D/P are better by miles. But playing them... it's just not. And I can't give any logical reason why.

I think it was the Wifi.In the other game you had to work hard to get a certain pokemon.Now you just go to the GTS or a forum, and that one trade might shortened the game for hours.
And how do I unlock the mystery gift again?

ACWW players will know just how easy it is to get the freebies from Online. Its a case of just going it, without even having to do anything and then checking the right location in the game to get what ever the gift is.

The music of course - it's quite awful (aside from a few good tracks of course). They say the DS's sound quality is better than the GBA, but in my opinion, Ruby/Sapphire had better music. In fact, I'd rather listen to the Silver and Red soundtracks than the D/P rubbish.

Well, as some of you know, yesterday in his blog, Jun'ichi Masuda mentioned for people to play DP on January 12th (his 40th Birthday) to find a special surprise. The community all jumped at this speculating on massive events expecting Darkrai, Shaymin and so forth to be given away. However, this was quite jumping the gun. Early reports are coming in saying that the suprise is the fabled Diamond Dust weather effect in Snowpoint City. It sometimes occurs on its own, but is quite rare. Like the snow that usually adorns the area, its essentially clear with small crystals coming down. It is purely a cosmetic change as theres nobody to battle outside in Snowpoint City. These reports are still unconfirmed but this is the only thing being reported from Japan regarding today's changes so far, and its unknown if it will translate across to US and European game cartridges. I'll update you as we learn more
