omg, a new trailer for ToS showing all the oldies back. not to mention it's actually got some sweet cel-shaded graphics. i just can't wait for this game.

Shame there's no indication of Kratos, but I guess that can't be helped, him being on Derris Kharlan and all.

I'm now a little unsure about this game now, I was hoping to see more gameplay footage but I will be getting the game as I loved the first one.

i think in this game you can recruit monsters to fight for you, i guess sort of like the monster recruitment in dragon quest. plus i think colette joins your team at one point during the game aswell shown in this screen:

Looking at the characters' faces, I notice that the two new characters have pretty different looking eyes to Colette's. Hmm... Maybe significant, maybe not. :p

you may be onto something there. infact in the trailer the eyes of the main male character seemed to of turned red, maybe they're of a different race, at this point it's all speculation.

Yeah. And maybe the reason of why their eyes are different is the same reason as to why they are both shown to be fighting against Lloyd in the trailer.
I'm already starting to love this game just through speculation and possibilities!

what i've learned about the male lead Emil is that he is 16, lost his parents in something called the blood purging in Palmacosta and he has special traits different from others which means he's treated as a monster by other people, and if you notice while his eyes are usually green they turn to red when fighting or when angry which could be one of his special traits.
i don't know much about the female lead except shes called Marta, she too is 16 years old and her parents died in the great kharlan tree rampage.
and the mystery guy with red hair and the glasses is called Richter Abend who is 20 and thats all i know about him.
there is also another tales game which has been announced called tales of vesperia, which no one knows nothing about but it is rumoured for a xbox 360 release.

I've learnt more details on new characters, the small blonde haired girl riding the dog like thing is called Alice who rides animals into battle and is a mean hearted little girl, the guy with the blue hair is called Decus who is smitten with Alice but is treated badly by her. The black dog seen in the trailer is called Tenebrae who is a dark spirit from another world who made a contract with the leading male Emil to make him a Knight of Ratatosk.
I can also tell you all of the old cast will return in some form except Kratos who is yet to be confirmed but I heard is doing the Narration of the game.

I can't be bothered to read it so I'll ask anyway; any chance of using a Gamecube controller?

Hven't heard anything yet but there isn't any waggling involved at all, I believe only the remotes pointer is used for the overwolrd which is just really a map with points on it to click where you go apart from that it is controlled by analog stick and buttons, but I'm sure you won't really be happy unless it uses the gamecube controller :p .

I'd probably be more comfortable using the Gamecube pad too as I feel a traditional JRPG is much more suited to a traditonal control pad, but the Wii controls sound fine.

Yay! At least Kratos is in it in some form. ^_^ I'm still hoping he'll be in it properly though. :p

It seems that those stones need to be collected and seeing as Llyod looks like an enemy in this game I'm guessing your in competion with him to find them. This is pure speculation so if anyone else has theories please share them.

Well, if there isn't any waving then that's a start, but there's no reason to not be able to use a GC pad. I'm not looking at screens because I don't want to become excited, buy it, and then not really enjoy it because of the controls.

Well do you mind using the Wii controller if you just use the buttons and anolog stick or does it have to be a traditional style controller?

Well it will be released by the end of june in Japan so the game is probably almost finished. I'd guess a PAL release to be around February 2009.

In related news it seems as if Namco Bandai are developing a third Tales of game on DS, but as a western release of ToT and ToI looks unlikely I wouldn't be getting too excited about this, it will probably only add to the heartache :_| .

Dont see much chance of that.

Don't understand a word but it's some nice footage.

Since the game's now out in Japan there are loads of videos of the japanese version on Youtube. There are about 70 videos of it on this Youtube channel, but most of them are videos of a playthrough. You could still check out random ones to see how it plays though. ^_^ The full japanese opening's there too, and it looks great! ;)

And if you're not aware there's a new Tales game being made for DS called Tales of Hearts which feautures 2D character sprites on a sort of 3D background. Be nice if they actually give a western release for Tales of Innocence. I'm sure it is likely to do well over here.
