Okay, after looking through the Third Party board it seems there is now a true topic dedicated to Final Fantasy... So, as I know quite a few people here like it.... HERE IT IS :D !

So, what's your favourite? Gotta be VII for me... I first played it when I was like 6 and it was AMAZING... There just seems to be so much imagination in the world of it and the characters are so well developed and everything feels so grand a epic... I also favour it's way of story telling with each character having to wrestle with issues from his/her past.

VI is a close second though! Kefka is so awesome! :D As are all the characters... :^0
And VIII is also great! Most reviewers didn't seem to like the character of Squall, but I absolutely LOVED it! You got to see inside his head and his thoughts, and I realized that they weren't much different than mine... :^0 YAY AND SQUALL AND RINOA! And Irvine was cool :p Zell was an idiot though :|
Annnnnd X - actually a better game than VII, but I still prefer VIII :p . Only thing I don't really like about X is the OTT and sometimes ear-bleeding voice acting. Meh, only a minor thing. The Sphere Grid was AWESOME!!! After Materia it's my favourite way of developing characters ^_^

Did I mention I have a 13 inch toy Chocobo ?:/
And I can't WAIT until Crisis Core!!! And Final Fantasy IV DS!!!! :^0

well my favourite probably is ff vii. i also quite liked x-2 even though i know most people seem to hate it but there was just something about it i liked. i'm not to sure on xii though. loads of people seem to like it but there just didn't seem to be anything engaging about it to me.

Have you ever played FFIX, Blaah? ?:/ Brilliant game! ^_^ It's my second favourite Final Fantasy, beaten only by VII. ;) I love the whole tragedy feel of VII. It's completely unlike any other RPG because of that, I feel. Plus it actually has some great spin-offs, unlike FFX with X-2. Mind you, I preferred X-2's battle system to X's and so I enjoyed it a lot because of that. I didn't like the dress spheres though. :| FFVII: DoC is really great and Advent Children was pretty good too. And Crisis Core looks amazing, I'm actually tempted to buy a PSP just for it. Plus the 21 minute anime style movie, Last Order is great too. Anyone who hasn't seen it should type "Final Fantasy VII Last Order" into Youtube to watch it! :D

Alas, no, I have not played IX. I mean to. I want to try and work my way up. But I only borrowed VII and VIII from a friend until completion, and a PSone and a PSone memory card from another :^0
Still, hopefully getting my OWN copy of VII for Christmas along with a PSone memory card - then I can play it on my brother's PS2! And then I'll try and get IX, then VIII again... Then possibly XII... :_| THERE ARE SO MANY! I'm waiting for IV to come out on DS before I buy that though ;) Still need to buy the other GBA ones though...

My girlfriend bought it for me on DVD the other day for Christmas - she's wonderful ^_^
And Last Order is FANTASTIC! What I don't like though is that they changed how the fight between Cloud and Sephiroth in the Nibelheim Reactor went... I mean, CC and FFVII have the same scene but LO has a different one! They should have used it in CC as the LO one RAWKS! :^0

Oh yeah, and Fabula Nova Crystallis. Looks awesome, I think, but no - I'm NOT willing to buy a damned PS3 for them and Little Big Planet - not at it's current price. I'll have to wait like, 5 years -_-

i also liked ffviii what i bought pre-owned at £20. it was a great game which i loved but it being a PS1 game pre-owned meant it was innevitably going to crash which it did. so i gave it back and got dragon quest instead and beacuse of that i can't really say it was a lose :)as i love dragon quest :x. i haven't managed to get round to getting ffviii again, which i may do someday.
as for future releases i think ffxiii versus looks amazing and ffiv ds looks sweet but what will be even sweeter is when they remake ffvi on ds which we all know is going to happen.

Which is also a shame as I just bought it on GBA :(

well you get to play a great game twice. plus the differences should be sufficient enough to warrant another purchase.

well they are but they peaked at vii i think, they have beem going down hill that much is evident in final fanatsy xii. plus i find that the more recent games lack charm.

Only ever played Final Fantasy VI. I was pretty much half-way through it, but the since the hard-drive has been wiped clean (¬_¬), I'm going to re-download it in Australia.

I don't care how much you all seem 2 hate XII, it's still the best ( but i haven't played VII :_| )

I dint like Advent children too much, but that might be because i watched the first half in japanese so i didn't know what was going on after lol.
I might watch it again soon, i have it on DVD.

Not sure when to get it or if I'll like it. Characters seem shallower which is something I won't like as my favourite part of Final Fantasy's are the characters. Story might be pretty cool though - I like the sound of the whole political struggle thing :p

You sir, are an idiot. VIII is superior in every way, other than graphically, but XII's graphics aren't great anyway.

Every (good) Final fantasy is a damned 'political sturggle'. The Battle System in XII is completely retarded. I want random battles. :_| It isn't the worst I've seen though. It's like turn based Crystal Chronicles...

I've only played III for the DS (got it last sunday for my birthday), but I want the one with Tidus in for Christmas. I played the demo of that when the PS2 first came out, and I've wanted it since, but never enough to actually get it :p Same story with 'Dark Cloud'.

First game I ever played on PS2. Loved it. Bought it. Sold it when I became a Nintendo Fanboy and needed money. God dammit I'm an idiot >_<
And that's FFX. It's really good, like every FF.

Oh, and III for the DS is really good. Could have done the 3D airship thing though like in VI, VII, VIII and IX, but they didn't ¬_¬

IMO, Final Fantasy VII ain't that good. I hated it's confusing story, and I absolutely hate Sephiroth. He went insane from misreading a book.

well everyone (should) hates sephiroth. thats the whole point of him he's not there to be liked. :p

But everyone likes him anyway 'cos he's cool :^0

Anyway, it wasn't just from reading the book! Well, he found the Mako monsters and then found out about Jenova cells etc. and then the experiment that created him but as Gast thought Jenova was a Cetra and the people of the world let the Cetra get killed by Jenova, Seph went crazy and started killing everyone as he blamed them. Then he went to the Mako reactor to get Jenova. Tifa followed him - got hurt. Zack then fought him and then was taken injured. Then Cloudy came and stabbed him with a sword then they fought Sephiroth took Jenova's head and Cloud through him into the life-stream bellow. Seph traveled the life-stream and got all the knowledge of the world. He was then frozen in Mako in the Northern Crater. THEN Reunion happened with the Seph clones and what remained of Jenova - Seph woke up thanks to the Black Materia and then used it to summon Meteor which would create such a large amount of damage that the life-stream would have to come out to heal it and then Seph could absorb it, making him a God and living out Mother's legacy etc. etc. etc.

But he was killed by Cloud before Meteor hit Gaia so when the life-stream fought back, well, he was dead so couldn't absorb it etc. etc. etc.

Gaia means Earth IIRC.

I don't really know what IIRC means :p but I do know that Gaia is Greek for Earth. ^_^
I just never knew that the planet was known as Gaia in FF7.

I know Gaia is also used for the world of FFXI. And I THINK the world of VII is mentioned as Gaia in a cutscene in DoC, but I haven't played it so :p

FFIX's world is known as Gaia too. But there's also the parallel twin planet of Terra (Latin for Earth) in that game.

And Terra is ALSO the name of the main character (well, one of them) in FFVI and was originally called Tina in Japan but renamed Terra over seas as it sounded more exotic and also gave the link between the name of the character and the earth etc. ;)
