You may have noticed an increase in the randomly named accounts signing up recently. It had decreased sharply and it is was part of the forum I'm constantly keeping up with.
The increase is probably due to what appear Gmail being cracked because some of the accounts have been Gmails with Chinese/Russian/Iranian IP addresses. @yahoo.co.uk is also starting to be used, for example the latest sign up was based in Paris with @yahoo.co.uk.
It is IF's Terms of use that we only have English members and so any Sign ups with international IPs I've been sending to the banned group. First time I did it it took 2 hours to go through them all so now I'm keeping on top of it.
If you do see someone who's name has been struckout who's on the online list when you don't think it shouldn't be, it might be a mistake by me so post here or PM me about.
Point of the topic? To keep you up to date with my ever lasting fight against the spam sign ups.

When we hit 500 'members' all American based Gmails and yahoos still in the invalid group will be banned and then deleted.

It isn't because they're Americans. :p It's because they're advertisement bots. But most of the time I don't even know what the advertisement is.

I've clicked on a few of them and none of them ever have any link to another site. Who ever is doing it is really wasting a lot of their own time.

Or, much more likely, REALLY needs to find something to do ;)

Mainly because they'll have their username, then @mp3-collection.in/.ca/.tw I could go on. Also 8/10 times their IP starts with 195. or 194. which usually routes to China/Korea.
