Title: Wii Instalment Will Be A Social Networking Game
Description: *UPDATED* BREAKING NEWS

From GamesRader

Animal Crossing will be a social networking MMO when it reaches Nintendo's Wii, naturally evolving the hugely successful series from a charming but essentially robotic experience into an exciting and socially interactive world.

This revelation comes courtesy of Edge, who credit an unamed Japanese source with confirming Animal Crossing's MMO status. The game itself has yet to be announced, even though Nintendo's Katsuya Eguchi has spoken before about the game's motion controls.

To read the full news piece, including details on the game's possible 'communication' aspects and Nintendo's development of flash drives for DS, grab yourself a copy of Edge #182, on sale tomorrow.

So the next one will be Animal Crossing: MySpace or something? O_o

Interesting...

That could be pretty cool. Nintendo've never done an MMO game before as far as I know. :p I wonder how they'll do with it.

G_R7 - October 24, 2007 02:23 PM (GMT)
Well if it works then I think, in fact I know, I'll only be adding people from here that I trust. I don't want just anybody walking around my town when I'm not there.

*Feels stupid* What's a MMO?

MMO stands for Massive Multiplayer Online. ^_^

*UPDATE*

From GamesRadar

Edge magazine is reporting that Nintendo's Wii iteration of its hugely popular Animal Crossing franchise is taking a massively multiplayer online direction.

While we're still waiting for Nintendo to officially confirm anything about a Wii version of Animal Crossing (apart from the fact that it's coming), Edge's latest issue opens with the news lead: "Animal Crossing goes MMO."

The latest issue of the mag reports, "A Japanese source has confirmed to Edge that the upcoming Wii iteration of Animal Crossing is set to be a social networking MMO."

No further details are reported so we're left hanging about exactly when we'll be able to buy cheap turnips off the black market in Russia.

When contacted Nintendo only said it wouldn't comment on rumor and speculation. Bet your biggest fish this is happening...

This is great ^_^ I'd love for Animal Crossing to be an MMO.

More or less, just expect an expansion of what they did in the DS Game. Also, using your Mii in AC Wii is a given. MMO must mean they can push the number of simultaneous online players past 4 (As far as they're willing to go with DS Games), which is nice.

I am hoping it'll allow for some more interestng stuff like having an Animal in your town you're good friends with go with you when you visit another town, etc. This would expand the number of friends you'd have and whatnot.

I also want it to have MULTIPLAYER in every aspect of the word. You and a friend or three or you controlling up to four people in the same town at once simulataneously.

Obviously I'd also like to see DS-Wii connectivity. I have the Mansion in my DS game and alot of Bells so...yeah XD

A few new features I'd like is a Cooking Feature where you get to make stuff and a Craft feature where you can make your own furniture and whatnot XD

MMO means Massive multiplayer online.
Just because a game is an MMO it doesn't make it an RPG too... -.-

__daz - October 29, 2007 05:11 PM (GMT)
If it has very good online play with more than 3 guests in your town it should be awsome!

Hopefully people will play it as much as the Ds version!

sqeak - October 29, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
Well, I read from it that it'll be like the DS version, probably with added features and you can go to an area using the train station or whatever such as a town and meet other people, like a load of people running round with buildings with animals and such in.

On page 29 of the Wii Operations Manual it shows a message sent from "Animal..." with the leaf icon.

Game Master - November 10, 2007 06:22 PM (GMT)
