From GamesRadarMetroid proves that "hardcore" games can still sell on Wii
Nintendo's flagship shooter Metroid Prime 3: Corruption has debuted with a bang, taking the top sales spot in the all-format chart and even outselling 2K's awesome Bioshock in its first week.
Metroid managed to shift over 400,000 copies in total, which must be big news for developers ogling at Nintendo's console and proves that traditional "hardcore" games can still sell on the home of Wii Sports and Cooking Mama.
With Wii releases thin on the ground, Metroid's unlikely to be contested at the top of the Wii sales chart until Super Mario Galaxy rolls around in a few months time. Wii Play meanwhile, is still sitting at the top of the charts in all three main territories.I got my hopes up a bit with the title. I thougt it was over all but its only for it first week. But seeing have well BioShock is selling (for once a great game is selling!) I was pleased to see MP3C doing well after MP2E didn't do so well.

Meh, I still don't think it looks that good. MAybe because I'm comparing it to Prime 1, but it looks more Halo-ish ¬_¬

Oh good, has good reviews and is selling well can't wait to get it.It doesn't seem to have the same atmosphere that the others had and it looks like constant fighting but who knows maybe its a good change.

The problem with major franchises like Metroid & Zelda is, they sell well for the first couple of weeks as they are bought by hardcore gamers following the series, and rarely appeal to casual gamers, so sales figures fall quickly.
But with the correct hi profile advertising, similar to what was done with Mario Stikers C, who knows

It has a few bits but there isn't a WiFi Multiplayer or anything like that on there. I'm happy about that. Online multiplayer get in the way of the single player. It happened to Gears Of War. Most of the people online with the game haven't bothered to play that much of the better offline modes. I looked at their GamerTags to see how far they had gotten.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is amazing. Best controls ever for a First-person game. Anyways, when I got the game on August 27th, the line for the game was as long as the lines were for the Wii. Only like 4 people bought a Wii that day. At least I know that I can get Brawl a day before it's OFFICIAL release date thanks to Nintendo World. :)

Hopefully us in the UK won't have to wait too long to get it once you have, unlike MP3. But we get Mario Galaxy only 4 days after you do, so I can't moan about that. BUT WILL ANY WAY!!!!

I am curious. How come the Europeans always get games late? I have always wondered that.

Because Nintendo hates us….
But the main reason is because of the all the different languages have to translate the games into. They can’t just release a game in the UK and forget about the rest of Europe until a later date.

It makes sense. I guess I kind of forgot about the different languages and such.

Aww thanks, it is slowly becoming home.
The old, official Nintendo of Europe forum was a bit down in the dogs, dunno if you saw it. We're trying to get links with Nsider2 seeing as they are basically our American counterparts, annoyingly they grew extremely quickly.
Its a shame you're unlikely to see this place when it gets its busiest..
Tenshi - October 25, 2007 01:02 AM (GMT)
I see... well, it does not matter. Maybe some day it could happen.

Try getting a few mates to join if you like. We've got referrals running, if you have the most when we reach 500 members you get £15 (~$30?) worth of Amazon voucher or wii points. :)
Anyway I'm off to bed now, 2am's enough for me.
Enjoy the rest of your night.
Leave me some lengthy posts to read in the morning ^_^
Tenshi - October 25, 2007 01:15 AM (GMT)
Haha. Okay, I will. Anyways, enjoy your sleep. It's too early for me to go to sleep.

I thought that the troopers being included made it halo-ish too, but it's AWSOME :D still a prime, never halo :D
