What's the Virtual Console?
It's a service for the Nintendo Wii that allows you to download classic games from certain past consoles.
What consoles do the games come from?
The NES, SNES and N64, as well as the Sega Mega Drive, the Commodore 64 and the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine.
Sounds cool. Anything else?
Yes. Software downloads such as the Opera Internet browser will be available as well as games from independent developers.
How much does each game cost?
NES - 500 WiiPoints
SNES - 800 WiiPoints
N64 - 1000 WiiPoints
TurboGrafx - 600 WiiPoints
Mega Drive - 800 WiiPoints
Commodore 64 - N/A
How do you play them?
There are three different control methods:
1. Holding the Wii remote on its side like a NES pad.
2. Using a GameCube controller.
3. Using a Classic Controller.
Will the games be identical to the originals?
Mostly yes, though there may be some graphical improvements and better framerates.
When do new games come out?
In Europe, at least one game is released every Friday.
Where are the games stored?
Games are either stored on the Wii's 512MB internal memory or can be stored on SD cards (measures have been installed to prevent copying from console to console via SD card). Games will show up as channels on the main menu.
